Estate Guardian Command announced.
Estate Guardian is one of the worlds’ most powerful Computer Estate Management solutions in todays’ market place. Its’ power is derived from a unique ability to address, represent and manage all computers within the estate simultaneously and ultimately effect immediate change according to your business rules.
Adhering to international and recognised standards Estate Guardian uses the Microsoft Installer (MSI) model to bundle and distribute changes across the estate.
However, an increasing number of our customers have been urging the publishers of this unique and powerful software to relax the rules on Estate Guardian and provide the ability to execute any file or command and not just MSI.

Sometimes we just want to run a custom executable, uninstall a non policy application or simply delete, copy or rename files across the estate.
Having to create and MSI file to do this work is too time consuming.
We need to be able to run a simple script or “one-liner” that can execute simple commands “on demand” and not at login time.

If we allow the network administrator to execute any file, script or command across the computer estate, they would have unprecedented power to effect change.
That may present risks and could be dangerous.

It was just very cumbersome and almost impossible to know whether the job was successful in time, it used to take days or weeks. After careful analysis of the arguments, the risks and benefits to our customers, it is not surprising that the customers won.
Considering the demands of our customer and the arguments put forward and discussed: the publishers are proud to announce the arrival of a new component to the Estate Guardian family of products.
Estate Guardian Command is a separate add-on and requires its’ own installation, however it does not interfere or modify normal with the normal operation of your current installation.
With Command installed and the command window available, administrators can:
Create any script in their favourite scripting environment and paste the text into the command window.
Directly create or edit any scripting language text in the command window.
Enter simple Operating System commands directly into the window such as Executable Files, Copy, Rename, etc.
With help from the newly provided uninstall tag [SW_REMOVE_*]; remotely uninstall any non-policy software from any computer(s) immediately.
The new command window is simply another task (i.e. [EG_RUNCOMMAND]) within Estate Guardian view, so by dragging and dropping computers onto this view on the normal way, all those computers will execute the script or command simultaneously without the need to wait for users to login.
With additional features such a multiple queue management, feedback and success status of script/command execution, Estate Guardian has raised the bar once again providing features that are simply unattainable for almost all other comparable products. This firmly places Estate Guardian as one of the most, if not the most, powerful products of its class.
