ParaTek begin investigation into the Estate Guardian Assistant.

Today a network administrator can use Estate Guardian to create and execute a myriad of complex tasks such as:

It is well known you can target computer populations and manage your computer assets within your estate with great subtlety and sophistication using Estate Guardian. However, it appears that knowing where to start and what techniques to use, can sometimes be confusing. Having access to the manual and examples can help, and consultancy is also an option, but this has time as well as a cost implications.

So if it were possible to more quickly define and execute these tasks without building them by hand using Estate Guardian views and tables, we belive the network administrator could save valuable time.

Therefore ParaTek announces the start of a new programme into the value of an Estate Guardian Assistant. Guardian Assistant would be a graphical interface that helps professional users construct complex tasks that mirror very precise and specific business rules by using a simple "question and answers" technique.

A selected group of Estate Guardian customers are participating with ParaTek in order to establish:
1) Which tasks are the most popular
2) Which tasks are considered complex
3) Which tasks are considered labourious

With this information ParaTek will select a number of common tasks for inclusion in the "Guardian Assistant" development plans. The Assistant will then be released to the trial group for further feedback.

For example, currently a network administrator may have to construct up to 10 Estate Guardian views to affect a multi-tier software rollout, targeting their selected computer population. Most of these views will be very similar and their construction could be considered labourious, others that refer to many levels of FTP servers can become quite complex. It seems logical that if we find an automation template that would satisfy the requirements of the administrators who do this type of work, an assistant could save them all time.

It may be that the existing process of building a complex task manually is the most efficient way to define the business rule specific to your immediate need. It is certainly the case that the time spent tailoring an existing generic business rule template, can often exceed the time required to manually create a new solution to the problem.
